Turntable setup advice

    Hi guys,

I inherited a lot of vinyl and now need to play them on something. I have never owned a turntable before so I'm looking for something for a beginner that still has decent sound. From my basic research I think I am looking at purchasing a turntable, amp and speaker setup. I guess there is a big increase in sound quality when having a separate amp rather than one where it's included on turntable?
The turntable I had in mind was the Marantz TT5005 http://www.richersounds.com/products/hi-fi-separates/separates/turntables#1
Amp: CAMBRIDGE AUDIO TOPAZ AM5 http://www.richersounds.com/product/amplifiers-receivers/cambridge-audio/topaz-am5/camb-topaz-am5-blk
And speakers: CAMBRIDGE AUDIO SX50 http://www.richersounds.com/product/standmount-speakers/cambridge-audio/sx50/camb-sx50-dk-wal
Is this a good setup for a beginner? Or can people suggest anything else that won't break the bank but has good sound quality, is easy to use and can be added to in the future.
Another question I had was could I hook up and play my tv up through those amp/speakers? How about my Samsung tablet?

    Thanks for any help,

    Jonathan

As a beginner/ starter setup I don't find any fault in the selection you have found.
To connect to the amp you have two different ways, from the TV : RCA to RCA cable or 3.5mm to RCA. The tablet can also use the 3.5mm to RCA.

Thers only a little problem on the TV side as quite a few new TV's don't have these connections but you can work around it. Wireless transmission of the Tablet to the amp you will need a chromecast audio.

From a long term look at the setup, purchase a couple of spare needles - you can't change the cartridge / head on the marantz. Secondly look at Q Acoustic 2020's which are the same price as the Cambridge's but very highly awarded.

Thanks for the reply. My TV has a left and right RCA input and a 3.5mm headphone input. Would either of those work?
Are you saying that the Marantz isn't good long term?
I will check out the Q Acoustic 2020s. Cheers.

Those sockets need to be an output, the 3.5mm is traditionally on the side while the rca is some where on the back panel. The Marantz has limitations, like I said, but if you're not planing to change the way it sounds it's fine.

Thanks again. I've attached a picture of the back panel of my tv. I can't find any rca output unless the two next to the inputs are it. There's a headphone output. Would that work?
Ya, from what I've read it does have it's limitations. But would you recommend anything else for around that price. I just thought it was a good starting system that I could add and replace to later.

    Thanks again.

That's the socket for 3.5mm to RCA on the right most portion of that strip.

Yep, that's exactly where it needs to be.
