Looking for shorts/trousers that would preferably be padded but not pure lycra. Something I could wear on and off the bike. Similar to what bike couriers wear - not sure if theirs are padded or not.

I use the Endura Hummvee range for commuting and mountain biking, they don't have padding but I find them grand for the distance I am doing (@20 km)

Another vote for Endura Humvee. Have them for years now. Bombproof.
Also treated myself, a few years ago, to, Rapha Touring shorts. Nice cut, as they say.

are you looking to shop online or in an actual shop?

Most bike courier will wear padded shorts beneath the ordnary ones other than that they would have B**s like lead!

Another +1 for the Hummvee. I've had 2 pairs for years now and they're great. Theres a padded clip-in short that goes under the baggy shorts to keep you comfy in the saddle

I have a pair of Endura Zyme shirts, use padded shorts under them.
Have used for commuting for several years and with easily get several more from them.
