That's ridiculous.. a 14 year old 3L petrol BMW for 27k??? And a manual one at that! Sure it's in excellent condition but that's insanity.

Works out at €34,209 when converted over. Interesting.

With that kind of mileage, I would pay €20k for it. It would be worth a mint in a few more years, if you could only put a few extra miles on it.

Good luck to him if he finds anyone stupid enough to buy it.
In the UK for 4k more someone could have a brand spanking new 'Stang 2.3T...

or you could just buy a similarly well preserved M5 for about half that

or even buy a 2006 M5 with less than 40k miles on it , still for less than that.

or even at a push , if you really want an e39 , here is one with 73k miles thats had a lot of work done and been kept well, still for less money than that.

Id seriously argue that, for throwing round a track it may be 10% less exciting but I would say theres a lot of people who would lust after this over an M5 out of rarity and the very unique alpina styling.

Hexagon are former bmw dealers , well known for charging ridiculous prices - they are so well off - they don't have to borrow money for stock and can ( and do) sit on stock for years.

the owner annoys me - has a really rare classic Ferrari which he has taken bumpers off as it looks better - also has a lovely classic Bentley worth a fortune which he has adapted to make easier to drive. they arec all style no substance - terribkle reviews on pistonheads etc.

Stupid money for a mass produced vehicle, regardless of mileage. It looks like any other well kept E39. There was a 2001 740i Sport with 8k miles last year that went for under £18k, which was big money.

have you seen the price premium of alpina's new ? thats like saying 'nobody wanted a ferrari , the insignia is a much more desirable car' The current 600~ brake alpina B5 is about 10 grand more expensive than an M5 before any options etc.. not to mention having to wait for the thing to be built, arab & US customers like buying cars off the lot so they're not available.
