    Hi

    Could you explain to me the allowance for a child
    I've paid 4 bills now, all of which are €65
    We registered our child and our bills are the exact same.

    I see my bill states:
    Capped charges for this bill (92 days) € 65.54 (you might explain this part)

    Thanks

    Hi M.J.M.C,

    Thanks for your query.

    If you are on a metered charge, a children's allowance of 33,000 litres per annum per child will be applied if you register your details with Irish Water.

    If you are on an assessed charge, you are charged for adults occupying the house and the children's allowance is included in this capped charge.

    A capped charge is an assessed charged, based on average consumption and set out in the pricing plan determined by the Commission for Energy Regulation. For a one adult household, the total per year will be €160 and for a two or more adult household the total charges per year will be €260. These charges are broken down into quarterly bills.

    You can find more information on charges here.

    If you receive a metered bill and do not see your children's allowance included on the bill, or if you would like us to break down your billing charges, we will be more than happy to help. If you provide the following details, we will be able to assist you further:

    - Name;
    - Address;
    - Contact number; and
    - Confirmation that you are the account holder.

    I hope you found this information helpful and please feel free to contact us with any other queries.

    Kind regards,
    Mairead
