Driving licence address

    Hi,
    I have moved to another county and wondering if it's mandatory to change address on my driving licence? Does it cost extra? Would it effect on my insurance?

    I have changed all car papers to new address which is fine.

    Dont think its mandatory, but probably advisable.

    It costs nothing to change it, just book an appointment (or walk in) to a NDLS center and get a new license for free with your new address. You need to fill out the form, and bring proof of your new address, but its free. I'm actually doing this myself next Wednesday.

    Doesnt affect insurance, where your car is primilly used affects your insurance. eg. My license address was my parents home address, as thats where I lived when I got it. I moved a few times, and each time I moved I either told the insurance company my new address, or renewed my policy with my new address.

    that's grand. NDLS is open on Saturday so will get it done.
    do I get the licence on the same day or they would post it?

    Post it. Takes a week or 2 if I remember correctly, but you keep your existing license in the mean time.
