Have been looking on line for a while and seriously considering going to uk to purchase an Estate.

Hoping for 2013 and have been looking at VRT liability etc.

Looking to spend 17k to 20 possibly 21k total for the right car.

Want something at least 150bhp. I do about 25k miles a year. Over half motorway driving. Spec important to me and want a car fairly fully kitted.

As well as the superb have been looking at the Peugot 508 RXh hybrid(vrt low) and the honda accord estate.

Was hoping to get an Automatic(but not a deal breaker) and if buying a superb get the 4WD version.

Saw the above today while looking at a similar car from the same dealer. Looks great value. Milage slightly above what i was aiming for but at the price I could get over it.

Any advise? any way of telling if its 4WD without contacting the dealer? Any views on the pegeout or honda

the emissions on the 4x4 are 165, as that one is 151 I'd say it's 2wd.

The Honda isn't going to give you great fuel economy.

Mid 2013 onwards superbs seem to have lower emissions than earlier one, even a 4x4 DSG is coming in at 149g

Not sure that you really need the AWD if you're considering other makes that don't have it. I'd sooner spend the money on a 170 L+K DSG 2wd model.

You have to consider why someone in the uk added the 4wd to the cost new. Towing? For hard driving? Bad roads?

I have looked at a few Superb recently. The Elegance or L&K models are the ones to go for, however I found that the UK Elegance models tended to be slightly lower spec than the Irish ones. The 4x4 models are a great drive but are in the 590 tax bracket, whereas the 2wd is closer to 200.

Fantastic car for the money but I feel the L&K models are rare. The elegance outweighs even the Passat highline for spec. There is a 4x4 Superb for sale in the Clonmel skoda dealers at the moment, 2012 I believe.

I have the 170bhp engine in my Passat and it's excellent, great power delivery when and where needed.

Asking 23,850 for the 2012. Big sving bringing 1 in.

Have ruled out the 4WD Tax and Vrt just too high. Will keep an eye out for a decent L&K model but as you say they are rare.

Great choice of car. I've had a Passat Estate 140bhp Highline DSG for the last few years and I am looking to change for an Supurb estate.

Just my 2 cents worth but the auto is a must. I don't think the manual suits the engine or car at all. As said before the 4wd isnt really that important.

A LK with DSG and the full length sunroof would be my choice.

Yeah I seen that afterwards. However, that car has been there a while so might be worth making an offer of you were serious about one, he's not the worst to deal with.
