    Hi,

I am in the process of organising a cycle from Mizen head to Malin head for early 2018.

This will be for MS Ireland. To date i have 12 names who want to do it and that might grow,

My question is has anyone any idea of places to stay in Mizen and/or Malin for us?

    The route looks to be

    Mizen to Macroom
    Macroom to Limerick
    Limerick to Roscommon
    Roscommon to Donegal
    Donegal to Malin

    Any advice be appreciated.

    Thanks

What do you reckon your plans will be for when you complete at Malin Head?

Do you think you'll be looking to stay that night? If so, hotel, B&B, guesthouses, hostel?
Or will you be getting bus back out straight away and maybe stay somewhere else? Like Derry?

Ideally the plan when we finish would be to stay up near Malin and rest with a fountain of water!

we would be travelling to mizen and staying there so already looking at 5 nights accomodation in places so if we have to make it a 6th night then so be it! laois is a bit far back to travel after cycling!

    What would you recommend?

As for staying near Mizen, I think most people who do this stay in Goleen - lots of B & B and holiday accommodation there - and spin the 10k or so to the starting point in the morning.

I've done the MtoM twice, and I'll be doing it again this summer. Your route looks 'boring', maybe you're going for the easy option (nothing wrong with that). Day 1 we always go to Kenmare and then to Killarney so you get to do the Caha (or is it Healy?) Pass, Molls Gap, even throw in the Black valley. Day 2 we do the Burren, even father Ted's House.

Regarding accommodation, we've either used www.seaviewtavern.ie or www.malinhotel.ie.

Best of luck, just pray for some good weather.

    We did a similar route.

Mizen to Killarney. (Via Caha pass and Molls Gap)
    Killarney to Lisdoonvarna
    Lisdoonvarna to claremorris
    Claremorris to Donegal town
    Donegal town to Malin

Just wondering if you wanted to stay somewhere close to your finishing point or if you wanted to go elsewhere. I assume you will have a support vehicle at the finish so getting you all to somewhere won't be too much of an issue?

I live in that part of the world, so know of quite a few places you could stay. As mentioned, the Seaview tavern is one option, plus the malin hotel a bit further away.

There's also other B&Bs in malin town or aroind malin head. How many beds do you think you'd need?

this is a bit of a bookmark - I have a rough route (up the left hand side then across the top to the end) but the date keeps getting pushed back.

Ballyliffin is a great spot to stay not far from Malin Head, I think there are 3 hotels with great deals all year round, Donegal town the same with 5 hotels, a couple of hostels and any amount of B&B's.

I've done M2M previously and had a relative with MS so would be happy to help you and perhaps participate in the spin also if you want to PM me

That looks awesome. I'm only a beginner and I find it hard planning 2 years ahead but I'm definitely interested and will keep an eye on this thread (or any new ones as they pop up).

    Kudos for doing this!
