Flaking clearcoat....reason enough to sell?

In a nutshell, my bro bought an 07 320d last year. Several spots of flaking clearcoat have recently appeared (my guess, due to a bad paint repair). He showed me the car at the weekend and asked my advice. There's 3 small areas (20 cent coin size) on 3 different areas of the car, so I smell a respray rat. I suggested selling it while it still looks cosmetically ok, before getting into the expense of a bodyshop down the line.

Good advice?! What would you do?

It's very possible a decent bodyshop could flat back the edges of the flaking clear coat and blend in some new clear coat for about 100e
That's without me seeing the car, it's kind of hard to visualise the problem*

To sell a 6-8k car for at the first sign of a relatively small repair bill seems a bit nuts to me. Get a professional opinion and a quote for starts anyways.

Thanks for the advice. Will suggest he gets a quote at the very least!
