Passenger Swivel Seat Advice

Hi all, does anybody have any experience with having a passenger side Swivel Seat fitted to their car ? I'm looking for a new car to which we want to fit a swivel seat for my Mum. But I'm learning that they can be a bit fiddly, especially in cars with any kind of armrest/storage between the front seats. Also, I think the ability of some to swing out the full 90 degrees seems to vary between cars.

Does anybody have any of these fitted to their car, and if so what car and what is your experience with them ? We had been considering a Skoda Yeti buy found out yesterday that the swivel seat adds about two inches of height, which in a high car might make the seat too high for my Mum to get onto. I'm not now considering a Meriva, so if anybody has any experience of swivel seats in those in particular, that would be fantastic

    Thanks in advance

Try a Fiat Punto. Phone Motability Ireland in Ashbourne. They're fantastic at this kind of thing.

    Try a Fiat Punto
Interesting, not something I had considered. Are Fiat's reliable now then !? :) Aside from that though, the headspace going in the front door looks like it might be a tad low - and I know that the swivel seat adds about two inches to the height of the seat, so there might be alot of ducking getting in and out in that case. But it's working checking out anyway I guess, so thanks for the tip.

Mobility Ireland certainly have a decent website with lots of info, but I won't be buying from them as I'm nowhere near Meath, so I'd feel kinda bad calling them for advice :)

There are different manufacturers of swivel seats which are available from different approved fitters throughout the country.

Some will add more to the height than others.
Some offer their own seat to help alleviate this.

Regarding turning out the doorway ...... most modern four door cars are limited by the shape of the bottom of the 'B' pillar, where it comes forward for the bottom of the door.
This limits the space the seat has to turn within.

Two door cars generally are not limited in this manner.

IMO, you should visit at least three approves fitters before making a decision, asking their advice on the better cars (in their opinion) for a swivel seat.

You will find a list of approved fitters on the NSAI site.
