Where to buy a Dublin GAA shirt?

    Hi everyone!

My dad and I will be visiting the GAA finals next Sunday as part of our holiday in Ireland. I would really like to show my support for the Dublin GAA team as I used to live in Dublin for a while. :D

What would be the best place to buy one of those shirts or jerseys? Are they available to buy near or in the stadium on Sunday? Are there any specific stores where you can buy them?
We're staying near Liffey Valley so if there's a store there that you know sells them, that would be very handy for us.

    Any help is appreciated :D

Basically any sports shop in Dublin, outside Croke Park on the Jone's Road side or in the ground

You'll get them in any of the major sports shops. In Liffey valley there is lifestyle and elverys sports which will both sell them. I don't think it will be possible to get them on the day of the game near the stadium though I could be wrong.

There is a branch of Elvery's on Jones Rd, beside the media entrance to Croke Park. You'll get one there. There are also several Elverys kiosks dotted around the ground itself, that sell merchandise. They are quite small though, so you can't be guaranteed they will have a lot of stock, or the item(s) that you want in your size.

As others have said, there are several sports shops in Liffey Valley Shopping Centre. There are loads of sports shops in town, around Henry St. Arnotts would have a very large selection. However, on Sundays a lot of of the shops in town only open up at around noon or 12.30. So if you leave it until Sunday, you won't have much time to shop, if you want to make it up to Croke Park in time for the first game at 1.30.

Just to note that there is a bit of a shortage of jerseys at the moment as they are about to be replaced, this is probably the last game Dublin will wear this jersey.

You may want to consider buying a t shirt or top, scarf or hat rather than the jersey itself.

Fair enough. I'll take that into consideration!

I planned on going on Saturday (we arrive in the morning) so if they don't have it in Liffey Valley I can always try on the day. And there's no harm done if I can't find a shirt, I only want one for the fun of it :) thanks for clearing that up though, it's good to know there are kiosks around the grounds that sell fan items.

That probably explains why I couldn't really find one online! I'm not into sports all that much so I hope you don't mind me asking, but what's the difference between a jersey and a t shirt? Would they look very different?

This is a offical tshirt that would cost about 30 (half the price of a jersey) and would show your support

Or you could pick up a tourist dubLin t shirt for 8€ or so in a tourist shop in city centre.

Unlikely I know, but if you found your way out to the O'Neills Factory shop on the Long Mile Road, practically all the Dubs gear is reduced (obviously because they are changing). Current Dublin jerseys on sale for €25 and plenty of them. T-Shirts and Tops from €18. Plenty of stock.

The official jersey is what the players wear. It is identical is colour and design, to what you'll see on the players on the pitch. Some players wear a 'match fit' jersey, that is tighter on the body than those sold in shops, but you can't tell any difference with the naked eye.

The t shirt will have the Dublin & GAA crests and will be in the Dublin colors. But it won't be the same design as the official jersey. It won't have a collar either.

We'll be staying at the Aspect in Park West so it's not too far! We might just head out there if it's reduced, thanks for the tip! :D

The one in the picture looks good enough to me and it's not too expensive, I'll see if I can find that one in the official Oneills shop like one of the posters above this post mentioned! Thanks :D

Thank you for the explanation! I think I'll go for the t shirt, it shows my support but isn't as expensive as the jersey. Besides no one over here (the Netherlands) would know the difference between the t shirt and official jersey anyway ;)

I was in the O'Neills shop on Saturday...loads of Dublin gear there.
That's your best bet, if you're staying out that way.
On a match day, the Elverys sports shop in Croke Park (Hogan Stand side) will be open, and is normally well stocked.
Hope my blue army does the business on Sunday in the first match, as well as yours!

Thanks! I think we'll be heading out there on Saturday, hopefully there'll be enough left so I can buy a t shirt :D

Fingers crossed, I just hope the best one wins, whoever that may be! And I'm hoping the atmosphere is great but from what I've seen and heard that shouldn't be a problem :D
