What are these like in a 1.6?
The girlfriend if looking for a new car and fancies them.
Any reason they are so cheap?
Anything I should look out for it we go to view one?

03 car is 13 years old.
Coupes used to be the thing for young hot girls and menopausal ladies alike.
Now it's SUVs. They've just gone out of fashion.

Car itself is good, based on the lantern. Not a lot goes wrong.
Check that BCM isn't malfunctioning (Google this), make sure keys and fobs all work, make sure sunroof works and that the frameless windows aren't loose and rattling.
1.6 engine is no fireball, think of it as a Golf/Focus in fancy clothes.

    Thanks the that. Good answer.

I would echo all of the above, I had an 02 one for about 18 months, sold it in Jan 2015

Mechanically they are sound and reliable

I had the BCM issue also and the part can be gotten online for €10 and theoretically it can be done at home but an indy mechanic will fit it for you cheap enough

Electrics can wear out, the sunroof motor on mine was broken when bought and I deemed it too expensive to repair, that aside most things are cheap enough to get parts for online
I got genuine parts for central locking and rear wiper motor for under €100 from Korea on ebay, Hyundai Ireland would have charged over €1,000 for those parts and over €700 for the BCM mentioned without taking labour into account

Nice car to drive and the looks are decent but it isn't a sports car by any means but comfy and fuel consumption was in the 30's

Once you are aware you might need to replace the odd bit here and there (and a lot of people would just live with some parts not working) then I would see no reason to warn someone off them

A lot of them around that age would be getting a bit ratty I would imagine
