Surprisingly, this scheme is at route selection with routes presented earlier this year.

    Details are available here: http://www.sligococo.ie/N16/

    surprisingly, in what sense ?

Surprising that such a quiet road is getting progress, or surprising that its been under the radar and now coming to light ?

That road is insanely bad and windy and probably the worst national primary route in the country.

Now, I'd argue that it should only be a national secondary road rather than primary route as its linking a low populated county, through a low populated county, to the lowest populated district of Northern Ireland and beyond it is Belfast which is not the place where people from Sligo or North Leitrim have much of medical or business or personal links (the few people that are there in the first place) .

It getting upgraded is needed in some shape or form at some stage, but whether it should be front of the queue in getting stuff started after the recession is a question, and possibly only thanks to it having the luck of being classed as a national primary rather than national secondary.

A public consultation will take place regarding refined route options in the Clarion in Sligo on Wednesday

Good to see after a fatal collision outside Sligo on this route today. RIP.

Construction well underway on this. 2.54kms of much needed improvement works on a national route. I believe it's well ahead of timeline so far.

https://www.sligococo.ie/n16lugatober/ project website with details although it doesn't have construction updates.

The roundabout at L3406 Drum Road opened back in February by the way.

Middle section and the new junction with L7413 seems to have also opened recently.

They are flying through the works!

    Me too 😁

I'm basing my statements on Satellite Imagery, User Reports, and GPS points. Which I'm using to update the map in Waze.
