Hi guys, just joined boards, after buying a new bike yesterday.

Went for a Canyon Al SLX 9.0, which should (hopefully) be arriving in early June, can't wait to get out on her.

What made you go for the AL SLX, if you don't mind me asking? There is a great offer on the CF SL models at the moment! Didn't fancy carbon for first road bike perhaps?

I went for the Al, basically because I thought it was more than enough bike for me. Secondly, I dont really intend to be upgrading to another bike for the foreseeable future, and I though the Alu would hold up better in the long run. Ive been known to have a few accidents whilst out on the road.

But I get where you're coming from thats a great deal on the CF SL 9.0

Thanks, can't wait for it to arrive

Is this the sl deal you are referring to? https://www.canyon.com/en-ie/road/ultimate/2016/ultimate-cf-sl-9-0-sl.html

Pretty sure thats the bike my brother has, its very nice. They are great value in fairness, compared to other brands. His has a better finishing kit too, arguably.
I think they went own-brand with that stuff last year.

I'd imagine it is the following one @ 1,869 reduced from 2,199

    https://www.canyon.com/en-ie/road/ultimate/ultimate-cf-sl-9-0.html

@F.Grimes You've bought a cracking bike! The AL SLX is still my go to bike. And it is a highly rated bike to boot.
And I think your justification of why you went that way is bang on.
You worry a lot less about it than a carbon yoke.

Haha maybe I'm naive in that respect. But if you do see me getting a new bike, you know I've had to sell my body to afford it!

Yep thats the one I was thinking of, should have provided a link.

Yep thats were my mind was, if I have a little crash on the Alu, no big deal. Whereas on the carbon its a different story.
