Hi I'd love a few ideas as I'm not a car person . As title suggests I have 25 k and 2005 A4 to trade in . Looking at replacement A4 could possibly get a 141 . Looking for spacious , cheap to run saloon . Any suggestions very much appreciated .

I'd try selling the A4 privately, it's not going to be worth much to a large or main dealer as it's too old for them to retail. You can then haggle a better straight deal price on a new car once you have no trade-in.

    What a Skoda Superb:

Not the prettiest in non estate form or this colour for example but generally they have huge interior space and boot and the added benefit of being a hatchback and saloon in one.

    Thanks bazz

I agree the skids estate is a good looking car with space ++++.
    Thanks for the input

an a6 would surely be worth a look too if you're after space.

You would be hard pressed to find a decent 141 A6 for 30k or less. A 05 A4 is probably worth about 4.5k to 5k max imo presuming it's diesel and in good shape.

A 141 or 151 Passat Highline would be a very nice option I'd think?

    Worth checking one out?

Maybe have to go back a little years wise.

Something left field, Lexus IS300H, loads of boot space for a saloon & surprisingly cheap to run (€190 road tax etc).

At least give one a test drive!

Even cheaper if you sell the a4 privately and head to the UK for one.

VW CC is worth a look at too, will easily seat 2 adults and a child in the back and has a good size boot also.

For that money I would be going for a new 161 Mazda 6, get a good spec one with your own car and 25k

Easily bring one in from the UK for 30k. I've a 141 S line here on the road for 29.5k bought from Audi Derby. Although you wouldn't buy one here for it no way.

    '05 A4 worth 3500-4500 if SE and 4500-5500 if S Line.

If you want to stay in Ireland, 25k+the A4 should get a nice 142/151 Passat

    Or this: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057590632

Although a bit older, but there should be loads of room to manoeuvre and both parties happy.
