I can't help thinking that that's some kind of a scam. MrsTeal did it as a P/T job when back at Uni, it took a 3 week orientation and then on the ward practice - only about the first 2 days of which were supervised

Would a local gp the best to talk to about this kind of career?

Might be worth ringing around local hospitals to see if they recognise that qualification and establishment. The hospital local to me has nurses doing the phlebotomy service, older staff and those with shot backs cover most of the posts. If hospitals are looking to save money they may well use phlebotomy specialists more but it's not something I've come across where I am, (could well be more prevalent around the country) definitely check with a few places to make sure you'll have a job after your study and expenses.

Edit: as per your previous post, practice nurse would definitely be worth contacting.

I don't want to get caught in a scam

Have you seen their rather intense T&Cs page? (http://www.synergiet.com/terms-conditions)
