I'm on a kind of Grand National ew 4 fold

Picked the winner of the Welsh National
Picked the 4th in the Irish National
Picked the winner of the Aintree National

And now for the last leg in an (almost) historic run of 'Grand National Slam'™

I've been with Folsom Blue since I backed him in the Paddy Power at Christmas. He's run creditably since and National is the kind of race that suits him these days. He's not a big horse and the fences at Ayr will be jsut right for him. The ease in the ground will suit too, he's not the fastest either.

My other dart is Vicente who I've fancied as a national horse since seeing him beat Un Temps Por Tous at Cheltenham this season. He looks ideally bred for a stamina test and the ease and the fences will be right up his street too.

4 against the field for me.

    Shotgun Paddy:
A real stalwart of these staying chases, picking up plenty of place money and this season placing in both the Eider(off 144) and the Welsh National(145) giving weight away all round. Ran no race in the Midlands National but it was a very odd race and i can forgive that.
He's down to 142,carries less than 11 stone for the first time in his career and has cheekpieces added and Fehily booked and could run a real nice race at a big price.

    A Good skin:
Ran a real eyecatching race in the Kim Muir, was up with the pace but dropped back a bit due to slow jumping but finished off stronger than anything, the Amateur onboard that day was decent but it's fair to say Brennan will be an improvement and Tom Georges horses are in good nick at the minute.

    Spookydooky:
Johnson's an eyecatching jockey booking for this boy who seems to be progressing steadily and has had something in mind for a while,he keeps staying on at the end of his races after racing lazily and that will do no harm here but he can throw in an odd clanger which could be a worry but cheekpieces added could help him focus and he's another of interest.

    Heathfield:
My main fancy, has been plotted up for a big one for a while and i'm sure he's well handicapped, his run in January was hilariously obviously a prep when running an extra lap running wide over an inadequate trip and runs off a feather weight here and his recent run over hurdles proved his wellbeing albeit in beating a field of average animals off a much lower hurdles mark.
Cause of Causes has been left in here to keep this boys weight down i'm sure of it which also adds to the intrigue,i can not see him winning and before anyone says "don't be hating Cause of Causes" or rubbish like that i put him up here antepost for the Kim Muir but conditions of this race not right for him, he's got a big hike in the handicap and although i think he might still be competitive off 155 in ideal conditions i can't see him managing it off top weight on soft ground and will be very surprised if he even places.

I've already backed Heathfield but can i back all 3 of the others? I'm not so sure. I'd say Shotgun Paddy would be the one that would annoy me most if he did win and i hadn't him backed so i'll do him too and i think i'll leave the other 2 as the 2 i give to my siblings and parents when they ask for a tip in the race :P

Don't tend to look too closely at these National races but I couldn't let Shotgun Paddy go unbacked at the price available.

If that was the case why would Barry Geraghty be on him. He can make the weight for Heathfield if he thought it was worth it.

Time will tell,to be honest i expected COC to be withdrawn this morning and Barry to end up on Heathfield. COC won't be winning anyway. If he does i might cry.

Typical. Andrew Ring obviously staying WAY out wide to avoid trouble and trouble comes to find him....

    Disappointed for Folsom Blue

I've backed Alvarado in both his Grand National runs and landed the ew. Would have been slightly bitter for him to win here but his chance was good.

He just always gets going too late :(
