Car insurance for work car, how much?

    I'm looking to see if anyone can give me an idea of how much insurance will cost me. I've gotten a new job as a rep and need to provide my own car. I've been driving company cars for 15 years so always on a company policy. I tried phoning a few insurance companies this week to get a rough idea of how much insurance will cost me but no one would tell me until I buy the car and get letters from past companies stating I had a company car and no one claimed against me on the insurance.

    The car I'm going to buy is a 141 Passat, automatic, diesel. Rough cost 25k. I'm a female, late 30's. Will need a work insurance as the car will be for work mainly. Mileage will be above 40k.

    Can anyone give me a rough idea of how much insurance will cost. I really have no idea

    You will have to get Class 3 (commercial travelling insurance) so you are probably talking up to €2000. Many insurers wont offer Class 3 insurance.

    Did you ask for a quote for a specific model? If you called and asked for a 'rough idea', you would get nowhere.

    If you're in a sales job, then as another poster has said, you will need class III insurance but if you're some kind of technical rep. and are not carrying goods or samples then you could get away with class II (non-sales business use) and make sure it includes an indemnity covering your employer.
