I don't think so with just the front wheel off. I have the hatchback and you can fit 2 road bikes with both wheels off and seats up.

You can fit a Fabia estate in the boot of an Octavia estate. You put the bike in the boot of the Fabia

Bike in the boot of my Superb estate. Should have no issues doing the same in the Octavia.

Can't see why not, haven't meet a car that a bike wouldn't fit in with wheels remove. Had a tyre issue yesterday and had to flag dien a taxi yesterday and he was very surprised that the bike fitted in his small boot.

Another tip is that a frame with forks will fit standing behind the drivers and passengers seat

Although they are both Skoda, the Octavia boot is not as big as the Superb...

Having said that, you can get a road bike in without removing the wheels and with the seats down, in an Octavia, unless you have like an XL frame, then the wheel may need to come off! :D

I get the whole bike in my standard octavia hatch with the seats down . Think the estate a couple inches longer.
Definitely have to take both wheels off to get it in the boot

Plenty of room with a 58cm frame with the seats down - do that all the time. You should be able to get any bike (OK, not a tandem!) into the Octavia with both wheels on and the seats down.

A Mountain bike is a different kettle of fish, especially if it's a longer travel bike and/or a 29er!
Front wheel off in that case...

Seats up is the question though. I too would be interested to know. I fit the bike in a golf with both wheels on and seats down but would be good to be able to have back seats free

Yeah I know, but just giving a visual idea on how much/little room a bike with the wheels off takes in a similar boot shape.

I only take the bike apart like that if it has to stay in the car and I don't want it seen. Anything else, its rear seats down throw full bike into the cave. : )

Flat, on top of each other with something in between to protect frames.

Popping the wheels on and off takes seconds when you're in the habit, faster than putting the seats down, and the bike's not in view.

The above won't work with a mountain bike because the bars are too wide, or a bike with mudguards.

There's not much in it. I just upgraded from an Octavia hatchback to a Superb estate. In both cases the bike fits in the boot with the wheels off but there's not a whole lot of margin in the Superb. All the extra space in a Superb goes into the back seat space

My CX bike and mountain bike will never see the inside of my car. :D

Octavia hatchback in my case too. With just the front wheel off I have to drop the rear seats, I can't remember for certain whether you can get away with dropping just the wider section of rear seat but I think not (I vaguely recall trying to leave the rear child seat in place by dropping just one section of rear seat but it was either not possible or too much of a faff).

I've not tried in an estate, I wonder whether the extra bit of height would allow you to stand the bike upright with just the front wheel off and the rear seats up?

And as soon as you add mudguards into the mix then both (from memory) seats down is the only option.

The boot in the Octavia hatchback is great, it's deceptively big, but it gets frustratingly close to being able to take the bike without dropping the seats but just falls short, the temptation to "adjust" the available space with a can opener is huge!

Thanks everybody. I can live with taking wheels off, dont think I can live with putting seats down anymore, too much hassle!
