Unsupported Protocol

A secure connection can't be established because this Site uses an unsupported protocol. No Site loads, it just hangs. Any ideas how to fix this? I'm so so sick of Windows. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it before they started messing with new crap. Am so so sick of it.

Will I get punished someway if I go back to Windows 7 anyone know?

That's unlikely to be a Windows thing, though it could be an IE thing. Have you tested Chrome and Firefox with the same site? Do they load it?

Speaking of which, what is the site? If you tell us we can try and reproduce the problem, which will help in confirming possible fixes.

I haven't tried on Windows 7, but I reverted from Windows 10 to 8.1 a while ago and haven't seen any problems, so if you still have a backup or are within the 1 month window after your Windows 10 upgrade you should be able to roll back to your old Win7 setup.

If this is a problem with nearly all websites, then check the time on your computer. If it's way off, then you will not be able to access any secured websites.

If this is a problem with one website, then this is nothing to do with Windows. All of the major browsers have been removing support for insecure encryption protocols and ciphers over the last year and a half. Websites which fail to upgrade themselves become unsupported and you see this error message.

Most likely this website is requiring SSL v3.0 or the RC4 Cipher, both of which are no longer secure.

Notify the owner of the website that their site is broken. For the time being, you can download an older version of one of the browsers; Firefox make them all available: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/

FF 35 should be far back enough. Just make sure to disable automatic updating.

OhMyGod it's the time it's the feicing time hah!! I can't remember now what happened 2 weeks ago but I ended up having to re-install Windows one day. Andddd the time on it now is an hour later than what it actually really is. I presume that's as a result of the extra hour time-change that didn't right itself. And I just didn't bother / get around to changing it back an hour yet so that must be what it is!! Thanks! Hah had never actually anticipated finding out a reason, just put it down to 1 of those things that happens in a Computer's life...

As it happens, System Restore got me out of a bind and I'm able to use the Internet again now. Would System Restore have corrected the time to real-time I wonder? I must go and see what time it says on my Computer in a minute. If it's still an hour ahead it'll probably come up with the same message again soon will it so I must set the time right on it.

I still do occasionally get another slightly-differently-worded Error Message about Protocol now and again even with time on the Computer correct but I don't know what that is. Anyway thanks for yere help! :)
