Excel Macro help

Hi hopefully this is the correct thread to post in.
Im currently on work experience in a company and as part of the job we have to fill out hundreds of excel spreadsheets by getting info from another separate window( we cant combine each window into a single excel file) I am fairly comfortable with creating macros as i have done so in college but i am having a bit of a brain fart.

How would I go about creating a macro that would transfer info from a range of cells in one excel window to another without having to copy and paste.

Hopefully I worded this correctly.

What do you mean you can't copy and paste?
Just not sure of the mechanics of what you are doing.

When the source is open, the external reference includes the workbook name in square brackets ([ ]), followed by the worksheet name, an exclamation point (!), and the cells that the formula depends on. For example, the following formula adds the cells C10:C25 from the workbook named Budget.xls.
