    Hey hoping someone can advise

I'm signing up to sky for the first time, never with them before but the previous owners of the house left behind their sky+HD box which they said is working perfectly and has programs stored on it.

If I sign up and get my own box can I use the previous box in a different room or do I have to actually apply for multi room or something?

Sorry not up on all the ins and outs!!

    Moved to Satellite

The answer is, what do you want to use the box for. It will work as a FTA receiver alright, but if you want your Sky package on it, then yes, you will need to sign up for multi room.

You can use the box as part of a multiroom subscription as said previously but you won't be able watch the programmes recorded with the previous card as it was a different account.

You can use the existing box as a multi room so long as the account it's registered to is cancelled. Saying that, if you sign up for normal Sky there will probably be an offer of a free multiroom box. With Sky Q you automatically get a second box as part of the deal.
