Oiled Wooded Floor Maintenance

    Hi folks,

We're buying a new home and we're going to lay semi-solid wood flooring throughout. We prefer the oiled finish but the missus is concerned that this requires too much maintenance.

The conventional wisdom appears to be that you oil them every 6 months to a year.

Does this mean at least once a year you're going to have to clear out your entire house to apply it? Or can you work around the furniture etc? But wouldn't that lead to differences in the appearance over time?

I like the appearance of the oiled finish and the fact that you can refinish smaller areas if you need to appeals to me. However, this regular maintenance thing sounds like it might be a pain.

    Any thoughts?
