    Hi Guys

Car is in for a service and told it will need front pads and disks shortly. Car is a 2013 BMW 520D. Quote from main dealer is €750.
Anyone know how much it would cost from an indie and if anyone could recommend someone in the south Dublin area?

    Cheers Heroics

OEM front pads for the E60 (model before yours) are approx €110. The non reusable wear sensors was the bulk of the cost.

At a guess €300-€350 max is the most I would expect you would have to pay for parts, therefore €400+ for front discs and pads replacement is crazy..

    2 hours work at max

The problem is that the OE discs on your car (unlilke the previous generation as mentioned by the poster above) are a 2 piece disc with an alloy centre section. That makes them lighter than normal discs, it also makes them more expensive.

Aftermarket discs are cheaper but are normal single piece cast iron discs. They still fit and work fine but aren't identical to the OE part.

For good quality aftermarket discs and pads (Jurid, Brembo etc) you are looking at approx €365 fitted.

Thanks guys. I like the idea of keeping everything OE on the car. Guess I have to decide if that is worth double the price though

I would ring up BMW and price the disks and pads separately. If you are not competent in fitting the parts yourself, than any good Indy should be able to fit them for €100 or so.

Its worth at least getting parts itemized. Dont know how much OEM discs and pads are for your car, but there might be a saving there..

You could get a price for supply and fitting of genuine parts by an independent. You will definitely save some money by going that route, not sure how much though.

I used autohausdublin to get rings and sensors for my e90 and got my local mechanic to fit.

They were good to deal with.

Discount Tyres I'd recommend getting a quote from.
    They're in Rosemount at Blanch.
    Let us know!

I don't know if I'm too late on this but I recently got a ridiculous quote from a main Audi dealer to replace my pads and discs on a 2008 A4. I called around a few places and found that Cardock installed the same kit as Audi for just slightly over half price. Worth giving them a buzz to see...
