Got home from England today and opened post ..Forgot all about a fixed penalty for no L plates I got in January that had to be paid for March 18th..Looked it up on citizen's information and they can post out a summons for a court appearance for non payment of fixed penaltys..Which means when I go back to England next week I could get a court summons out at any stage..It's unlikely I'll get time of work come the whole way back from England for a charge of no L plates..I was just wondering no.1 Can I pay the fine late (I already e-mailed the fines office in Tipperary waiting on a reply) And no.2 can i just hire a solicitor to stand for me in court without me turning up when I do get the summons or will they issue a bench warrant for not turning up even if I hire a solicitor ? I could get family members to sort solistors ect.. I'm New to this and Iv an appointment made for solistors in 2 days time but it's keeping me awake worrying how it works can anyone help? ...Surely if I hire a solistor and they explain I'm working in England hense the reason I can't turn up the court's would understand that
