Yup and it was tough crap on my behalf.

but of course , did you tell the seller ( who stitched you up ) what you thought of him for contact him at all ?

my guy tried to claim the thing was perfect even after i pointed out what he had failed to disclose , you almost have to admire the dedication to lieing , not like he would in anyway incriminate himself by simply admitting he sold damaged goods

Not to defend insurance companies, but if you hit anything at 60 kph in that Vento, your medical bills will be far higher than if you had the same accident in a new Jetta.

Last year I bought Mitsubishi Pajero Pinin.
Grand jeep, but it turned out few days after I bought it, that it had ABS and AIRBAG errors, and dash airbag and abs lights, were plugged in to special device which made them turn on for few seconds after you turn on the ignition, so car would pass the test...

I normally always check car through, but somehow I missed that.

Anyway - this is car which I bought mostly for fun driving offroad, so ABS is not needed there anyway, and even if it worked, I'd turn it off.
But it was sad for me that I didn't notice that when checking the car before purchase.

I also don't think it was sellers thing. He owned the car for 2 years, and I doubt he knew about that. He only drove tiny distance in the city.

This is life, people lie and are dishonest every day. Some are more comfortable at it than others but buyer beware and all that when it comes to private sales. Best thing to do is learn from the experience so that next time hopefully you will be better prepared.

I traded in my old car for a new one. The old car had a lot of issues but the dealer was more interested in making the sale. Dealer never even drive my old car and paid me more than it's worth. Some poor sap will get my old car simply because the dealer didn't inspect it properly. I did point out that my car had issues but said nothing more - assumed he would do a proper test but he didn't. Swings and roundabouts really - bought a second hand horrible car about 10 years ago so karma is balanced!

    Yea.
Bought an 02 Santa Fe of a small dealer. Lucky the following week came a frosty night and it wouldn't start. Turned out two heater plugs were wrung in the back of the engine. Major row with dealer and he took it back with full refund. On way back to dealer the clutch started slipping.
    Was lucky escape.

    Sigh, Honda Accord CDTI.
    I absolutely fcuking detested it.
Any possible issue that could have come up, did.
I asked about the chain issue it's famous for and it came back silent so I thought all is ok.
Next day I had the beginning of the timing chain failure which turned into needing both chains replaced which in turned caused me to also cough up for more injectors as the originals broke during the job (apparently they break when you start removing them).
Then it started to have fumes coming into the cabin which was related to another known issue with those engines and the injectors which were used to replace the broken ones also broke which then needed to be reconditioned.
I lost a fortune and got rid after 11 months.

There is a 99% chance the dealer didn't know the plugs were rung. It's not something that would ever be looked at unless it had starting issues. For all he knew, you could have tried to replace them and snapped them:eek:

ahhh now, my mechanic said they had obviously been broke a while and wouldn't entertain touching them.. If he genuinely thought I was the culprit he'd have held out.. When I went back he stayed in his office and his secretary gave me the money... and surprise-surprise 9 days after doing the deal he was still holding the logbook in a drawer rather than sending it off immediately as he said he would.

I bought a Peugeot 206 a few years ago,the car turned out to be a piece of ****. It ran well enough for the first 5 months, then bit by bit it started to fall apart. There was no airbag in the car to begin with, instead the seller pulled out the bulb from the dashboard,so the light wouldn't come on.Then the gearbox went, costing me about €680,the car was literally kept together by glue. I eventually was forced to get it scrapped, problem after problem after problem,it broke my heart and cost me thousands of wasted euro, haven't owned a car since!!!!!!
