It's a feature, not a bug, in Marshmallow.

When connected, pull down SD icon in notification bar. There should be 3 options.

Default is 'USB charging'. Pick 2nd option - 'MTP' and you should be able to transfer files.

You'll have to do this every time you connect phone to computer.

Yep, Dubwat got it ! At the moment I find the main benefit of the upgrade is cutting back on permissions. More to discover I'm sure.
Now there are 3 folders showing on laptop, Android, Pictures & lost.Dir. If I copy mp3 files from pc, where do I place them ?

I'm no expert so take my advice with a pinch of salt. I have a different phone and use a custom ROM (CM13)

I made a new folder on my SD card called 'ExtMusic' and stored my music there. I told my music player, Rocket Player, that this was the default location for my music. Rocket Player also made a folder called 'Playlists'. Now I have 4 folders on my SD card - Android, Lost.dir, ExtMusic and Playlists.

I have no photos/pictures on my phone at the moment.

    Hi,

I purchased my Moto E2 LTE from Amazon.es ... delivered to Ireland.

    - It's supposed to be an unlocked retail version I guess ... but looks like it's somehow linked to Orange-Espana
    - Android Version = 5.0.2
    - System Version = 22.41.53.surnia_retes.retesall.en.EU oraes
    - When I check for updates; the system advise I've the up to date version ... but, clearly I don't.

    Any advice on getting MM?
    - I've never rooted/flashed an Android device before.
    - I did flash a ROM onto a Nokia-N8 years ago and that worked out easy/ok ...

    Regards,
    T

It seems to be because with 6.0 it allows you to set the SD card as internal memory. Which means you can't mount it as a USB drive as before.

I didn't get to play with it any more than that. Before I had problems moving some apps to the SD card. They all move ok now.
