You can buy these and better on banggood and the likes for cheaper. I don't know if I'd bother with this.

I've no idea. It just so happened that I read that sticky this morning and then an hour later saw your post.

i removed it just in case, but im certain that i read on here somewhere that the restriction was removed, proven by the fact i was able to link to it, which im not supposed to be able to do. Better safe than sorry i guess. Maybe a mod could confirm either way

Complete waste of money. I had one, and sold it on within a week. Budget a bit more, and you will get something a lot better.

Was actually thinking of buying a dash cam - any suggestions for a good budget one? Do a lot of driving and have had a couple of close calls!

There is a whole thread devoted to this, including links to sites. People also most recent offers, so its a good one to watch. I bought a mini0806 through such an alert.

Have you a link to the one you bought, if you would recommend it?
Also, have you a link to the thread on here please?

Sorry for being negative but whats the point in buying one.

I know there is a lot of bad drivers out there but thats why we pay motor insurance and that no one accepts liability.

Ive seen the Russian dash cam footage and that is crazy

Well I'm just coming round to the idea of getting one now, but the reason is because I've read too many stories on here about people being done in scams (e.g. someone reversing into you at a junction and claiming you ran into them) or charged with driving offences when someone else was at fault..
    It's just for self-protection really..

Something like this one from halfords (http://www.halfords.ie/technology/dash-cams/dash-cams/transcend-drivepro-200-dash-cam). Great reviews and very discreet.
The dash cam linked to by the Op can be got from Ebay for around a tenner (Chinese sellers) and is pretty useless.

Why are the small ones never on offer. Who wants that monstrosity on their dash? Sorry op, don't mean to belittle your find but I just couldn't put something that big up on my dash.

To answer the person why you need one i Meet 2 people that were involved in a crash for cash at traffic lights one had to pay out no wittiness . The other one was lucky to have someone at the scene both happened at traffic lights. The first one they are still claiming of her as it was husband & wife .

I would also suggest that if you're getting one, spend a little more and get one that has good quality footage. I've already seen people get screwed by not having a good camera to read a reg after a hit and run.

most stuff on pigsback , groupon etc. can be got cheaper from the chinese websites . It really annoys me when they quote that you're saving 70 or 80 per cent on the price .
    Its pure lies .

Yeah I would never buy goods from these deal sites.
Shte quality, and if you want the sh1te it can be got cheaper elsewhere.

What do you guys make of this one?

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Transcend-DrivePro-Video-Recorder-Adhesive/dp/B00NUVDWBU?ie=UTF8&colid=2SPP90YL4WW4M&coliid=I257JL3D8G9PD8&psc=1&ref_=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl

Not exactly budget at nearly 100 quid but I reckon that would seem cheap if you're ever involved in an accident and need it.

This is a better price by the looks of it, I'd even consider the 220 model that halfords sell with GPS logging:

Just based on the reviews and what's left of the link above, I'm guessing it's the Transcend DrivePro 200 he's talking about..

Edit: the one also mentioned by alanstrainor above..

Think I'm going to look at the Xiaomi Yi, from reading the boards thread linked by b318isp above..
Reviews seem great, though I'll hold off till the reviews of the English language software version appear..

This is what I'm waiting for too. Looks to be the best cam around, and quite reasonable too.

I originally had the one in the op myself many moons ago but quality isn't great in comparison to the newer variants that are out there. There's so many cams now it's a bit of a minefield when choosing a new one, so worthwhile sticking the model into YouTube and looking for some footage before you buy
