Hi all - looking for a little advice if anyone has been through the rigours of the NRS.

I have finally been advised my file has been moved to the Contracting phase but that they will be waiting on Garda Vetting to come back (which could be at least 6-8 weeks) before they can even set a start date. All other paperwork including my notarised declaration of no convictions has been submitted and accepted.

As I had to make my current employer aware they would be seeking a reference (which they did) they are now interviewing replacement candidates for my current role and are putting pressure on me to set a finish date so they can set up training/handover/start date for new employee. Completely understand where they are coming from but I cant afford a lengthy between jobs phase, particularly as I will be paid fortnightly in arrears by HSE so there could be a long gap between payments.

The new role does not involve any patient care; would their be a possibility of them waiving need for Garda Vetting to be returned? Or is this a hard and fast rule for all employees, even those in primarily clerical roles? Thanks in for your advice :)
