Home Renovation Scheme

    Hi,
I built a new house back in 2013. I moved into the house after the deadline for Property Tax so do not need to pay this for 3 year until 2017. I want to do some improvements to my driveway as have just some rough stones down. The cost will be over the qualifying cost for the Home Renovation Scheme of 4K. Can I avail of this scheme or do I need to wait until 2017 when I have paid my property tax?

If you are registered for property tax and have an exemption you can claim tax back under the scheme. The criteria is that you do not have any outstanding property tax. I have claimed under this scheme twice for a new build that is exempt from tax.
