The Great Railway Run 2016 is on Sunday 17th April.
    http://www.thegreatrailwayrun.com/grrHome.php
It consists of three distances 25km from Cork City following what was the old railway line, 10km from Monkstown and 5km from Ringaskiddy all finishing in Carrigaline.

Previous years have been good and well organised.
The finish line has now been moved to the new youth centre.

This is my first year doing the 25km, looking forward to it!
    Anyone else competing?

There's a bit of hill coming up out of Ringaskiddy, don't blow it all going up that!

Spotted on a bit of a jog earlier, think I ended up running ~8k of the route in the end.

Shedloads of photos of the day via the Running in Cork blog.

Personally I had a ball, ran with two friends who are gunning for 3:45 in the Cork marathon so stuck religiously to their pace all the way & we finished within a sec of each other :)

After the hellish weather at the Conn Ultra the previous Sunday, I had a smile on my face all the way!

Great day for it, even with a bit of frost on the car when I woke up in the morning. By God did those few rolling bits at the end feel like mountains though! Ran the 25k in 1:50:32 - I found the last few miles very tough and was glad to have banked some time over the flattest part of the course and 17 minutes faster than last year. Strava tells me I PB'd my half marathon time as well - so I'll take that as a goal for the Cork Half in June. Very happy with how the day went. The only pity is my grimacing psycho face in the race photos :-). I really enjoy this course and some of the views over the harbour were amazing yesterday. The finish was definitely much better than last year. I have the calendar marked for next year already.
