VIN is not the same as engine number. If you have access to the car, you'll find it stamped on the block (Google <car year and model> engine number location)

Yes, before fixed-length VINs (Vehicle Identification Number) came in in 1980, cars had (variable-length) "chassis numbers". For the purpose of the form, they are the same thing.

A lot of cars will have a data sticker that wil show the original engine number.

can i pm you a sticker number off bonnet which is just above vin number , you might know if its the engine number

Yeah, fire ahead. If you look in the folder in the glovebox it may be detailed in the service book or on invoices if there are any in there.
Far as I remember they don't put the engine number on the chassis plate.

Ring your local Toyota dealer, they should be able to retrieve it even on UK reg. Otherwise ring the last garage the car/jeep was serviced in UK (providing there is service history).

problem with it , it didn't have manual in glove-box. god knows why
i registered with toyota uk , there site only give vin with uk reg and details except dont see engine number

As I said ring them. If no service history, look for a sticker on back window or arond the reg plate of the garage that sold the car new. Ring them and explain your situation. It worked for me.

I could be wrong (it's a while since I was near one) but there might be a compartment at the back of the glovebox for the manuals.
Toyota dealer will tell you either way.
