Broadband for Holiday Home?

Trying to find a solution here if anyone can help.

My dad has a holiday home in Cork, which he'd visit 5-6 times a year from anything from 4 days to a few weeks at a time.

Is there such thing as a broadband service that would suit this? Obviously don't want to be paying for broadband when not there.

    Thanks in advance.

Just tether to his phone's WiFi hotspot assuming he has a suitable data plan and there is decent coverage in the area.

3 'All you can eat' no contract ...... €20 for a month's use, IIRC

Has to be in coverage of course .....

Sorry for thread bump, but thinking of going the 3 AYCE if it's still available. Is it possible to get this plan in-store and should I also pick up a mifi if I want to share access to the family?

How do you keep the sim active if you don't use it for a number of months?

    Thanks.

Anybody have an answer to this? I used the sim but won't need it for a number of months. So do I just send the odd txt or something until I top up again?

Its either six or 12 mo so sending a text twice a year is plenty.
