Career Change - Change in Benefits

Hi, I'd appreciate any help anyone might be able to offer me. I'm a single parent, and have been working in a part time job for years. It's 20 hours per week, so I get FIS alongside. I'm really itching for a change in occupation, so took a course a while back to train as an SNA. An opportunity has now arose whereby I've been offered a foot in the door of a school so to speak, through a jobshare system, which will be followed up by a full time position for about four months. After that though, the position ends. Given how extremely difficult it is to get work as an SNA when not working in the field, I feel this opportunity is important.

My question is this, if I leave my existing long term part time job, to take up this offer of what is essentially a temporary position, where do I stand in terms of benefits when the position ends in a few months?

Can I go onto jobseekers at that stage? (I'll hopefully be acting as a sub-SNA elsewhere so won't need jobseekers, but just incase). Given I'll have left a long term job for a temporary position, I'm not sure how that affects things like this. Any help at all would be appreciated
