We got satellite with a combi-box (Amiko).

I cannot understand what the time shift function does ? What is it for ? The manual is not entirely helpful !

Generally Time-shift is to allow you to pause a live stream and continue viewing from where you paused, some time later.

It causes the stream to be recorded from when you press pause.

Not sure how it works on the Amiko .....

There is also permanent timeshift which allows you to rewind live tv
So if you were not recording and you wanted to go bak a bit the permanent timeshift will always be kind of recording in the background
would be a good feature but I seem to remember people having lots of issues with it

The normal pause works fine as long as you have a decent enough usb hard drive connected
Not a usb key but a usb hard drive like the samsung m3

Not used mine in a while but in case OPis using Spark; if memory serves Spark only has permanent timrshift so pause does nothing unless it's on, one of the major failings of Spark
