Major rail crash training exercise in Phoenix Park Tunnel Dublin

    That's no big news really, they do that same exercise a few times a year. A good friend of mine is involved with it, I get asked to volunteer to be a casualty for various ones now and again. They do them at Docklands station too.

    Just a slow news day for RTE, most times they don't bother reporting these mass casualty training exercises.

    But do they do inside the tunnel every year? I thought it was just out in the yard/in sidings around the country. Completely different scenario inside a tunnel I would imagine.

    Usually there are three exercises on the network annually, one is always in the tunnel, the second is usually between Bray and Greystones and the third could be anywhere on the network.
