Looking at 3-4 nights in May. Wife says AMsterdam is good... I fancy Berlin for no particular reason

Anybody been to both???? Your thoughts??

Both worth a look. Price both and do the cheaper one?

Would prefer to go back to Berlin if I was picking one.

I would be the same. Have been to both a few times, but would prefer Berlin.

Accommodation in Amsterdam is extortionate, even more than London. I'd go with Berlin.

Depends on budget I suppose, but anywhere near an S or U bahn station is handy. To be honest, I've never stayed in a hotel in Berlin that I would have any issue going back to.

For varying budgets, I have recently stayed in:

Pullman Berlin Schweizerhof on Budapester str. overlooking the Zoo - sometimes they have very hefty discounts on booking.com If you can get one of the discounts that includes breakfast, go for it. Luxury all round - extraordinarily lavish breakfast. Close to Kurfurstendamm, close to main tourist bus lines, the 100 and the 200.

Park Inn on Alexanderplatz - close to all the transport - great location, great views from higher floors. Revealing bathroom doors. :)

Ramada Hotel Berlin Mitte - mid range hotel. No complaints.

You certainly wouldn't want to be shy, that's for sure.;) Very good hotel though, in a super location.

Hey. I stayed in Garden Living Hotel Berlin. It was super close to the metro and train station, in a gorgeous area. I booked a standard double room and arrived to a suite with balcony- turned out that was standard! http://www.booking.com/hotel/de/garden-living.html

I've got some great deals on booking.com but I would always double check with the hotel's own website, just in case they have an offer.

Good choice, I would pick Berlin over Amsterdam every time.

As for accommodation, Scandic Hotel Kurfürstendamm in the west of the city is lovely and fantastic value.

Berlin is really interesting with lots to see, especially if you have an interest in 20th century history. The Park Inn is really central, U Bahn station outside and the S Bahn across the street, it was an important hotel in the DDR.

    Thanks All...

Got a good deal in the H2 Hotel and am getting loads of Info from the Berlin Forum on the TripAdvisor site with visitors posting their questions and views. Highly recommend a gander thru their Forum if you travelling to some city in the future.
