Considering a visit to Barcelona this September but have not been to Spain before, I'm just looking for thoughts or suggestions about sites or places to visit north or south of Barcelona. I have a campsite for Barcelona which is adjacent to the Mediterranean. Thanks in advancent

Last time we ended up over that way we stopped in Collioure on the French side and http://www.euro-camping.com/en/ near Girona on the Spanish side . We didn't vist Barcelona but there were rail and bus links from Girona . Some cool cycling routes around there if thats your thing

If you're looking for somewhere authentic, not too touristy (and really cheap with lots of safe free parking on massive uncluttered beaches) try Deltebre about half a day's drive south of Barcelona. It is nice and green in contrast to the typical arid Spanish countryside. Depending on when you plan to go it could be a little warm.

Collioure over the border in France is very nice as mentioned as is nearby Argeles
