Suggestion for a new designer bag

As title says I'm looking for a new designer bag! I'm looking to update from a mulberry satchel and Michael kors satchel this summer as I am bored of them but I would like something along a similar style. Nothing too big as I would use them for day and night time.
I'm willing spend around 450e but if I love it I could spend a little more!

I suppose I wear a lot of navy so would avoid black, tan/cream/nude would be my preferred colours.

    All suggestions welcome, thanks everyone.

If you like Michael Kors, the Savannah small satchel in pale grey is quite nice and would look very fresh and clean with navy. http://www.brownthomas.com/shoulder-bags/savannah-satchel-small/invt/174x4489x30s6ss7s1a502&bklist=icat,4,bagsaccessories,bagsbystyle,bagsshoulder,
This is nice, also comes in pale grey http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/DKNY+Chelsea+light+tan+large+satchel+bag/227657561,default,pd.html (the medium size might be better but they're not huge anyway)

Maybe have a look somewhere like Kildare Village to get more for your money?

Also meant to say, See by Chloe have some great bags. The one I had in mind isn't available anymore but they have some stuff you might like and the quality is great.

OK, whatever floats yer boat, but €450 for a bag, WTF?

Anyway, I better slink off the thread now, because bags are worth it and so are the owners, I did read the program lol..

I suppose anyone posting here would be able to spot a fake (unlike me) within 100mtrs.

I'd rather have a holiday and a Penney's bag. But there ya go.

You should check out Siopaella. They buy and sell pre-loved designer bags for a fraction of the price. They have really nice stuff, should check out the website

Ha I Laughed at this! Each to their own, I work hard and can afford luxuries like a nice new shiny handbag, I personally don't like travelling so I like to spend my cash on other items that make me happy.

Other people can buy fakes if they want but what's important to me is the label on my bag. Won't be heading to pennys for bag as I don't shop there.

See by Chloe is one brand I had my eye on, the Drew and Faye seem to be very popular at the moment with bloggers but I don't think I would be careful enough to mind the suede!
Currently looking at Chloe bucket bag and liking it!

I like that bucket bag too!! In the market for a nice new handbag....same kind of budget...how did you find mulberry?

If you want a bucket bag, why not go for the Mansur Gavriel? There is hardly more iconic bucket bag around at the moment. They are over budget.

I have a bag by this brand and I love it. And the leather is sustainably produced too.

This is the bag which I have in black.

There's a shop on Dawson St (can't remember the name of it - sorry!) that specializes in second hand designer bags. I've only been in it once, and there was a good variety of designers and styles. It might be worth checking out? I'm not good at advising what type of bag to get, but if you have a look around online (and there are some really lovely suggestions in this thread already), you'll find your perfect bag!

I love Arnotts for a good bag OP. Personally (and I know I may get slated for this) but I'm beyond over Michael Kors at this point. Every 2nd girl on the street has one and they're just not special anymore IMO. And yes, when I bought my first MK about 4 years ago I loved it, but its worn off now.

I find Arnotts tend to have slightly more off beat brands (albeit still pricey) and you're unlikely to see millions of them around town. I'm all about being a bit more understated these days so I'm happy if most people don't even notice my bag, but the a person who is actually into fashion would spot it a mile off. I also focus on good leather and good craftsmanship.

I have all the Louis', Fendi, Gucci, Burburry etc from my younger days but they're all nicely tucked up at home in their dust bags, so I can wear them as vintage in years to come.

Thanks for this link out of all the bags people have suggested so far this has to be most up my street!

Smythson really do make quality goods the craftsmanship that goes into their products is lovely. However I wouldn't be the person for this bag -just yet! I am terrible at minding bags I'm the type of girl who abandons them on the dance floor, stuffs with useless items and generally is very careless!

Still have my eye on a Chloe bucket bag in a tan leather would be nice for the summer/Autumn. In two minds though should I just save for another pay check and get an LV hold-all. Two really different bags and totally different uses, but in love with both, tough decisions to be made...

    Isn't the Drew about 1500e?

Trust me, once you get a very high quality bag, you start to get careful. But a lot depends on the bag also. I have two full leather Vivienne Westwood bags and both are in great condition despite heavy wear. The leather is really good quality in them.

On the other hand, I have an Alexander McQueen bag which has scuffed somewhat, despite reasonable care. The leather is a fair bit softer and has therefore worn harder.

I'd never buy a suede bag - that would be a disaster in a country like Ireland where it rains lot.

I'm with you on this - the ubiquity of MK is why I never bought one. Plus the quality of the finish isn't good enough for my standards either. A nice alternative for medium-priced high street is Kate Spade. I've bought several over the years in the US and they wear reasonably well (for ~$150-$200 bags). I was cursing when BT and others started to stock Kate Spade as I thought they'd replace MK in popularity and I'd have to abandon them, but it hasn't happened yet.

Isn't it lovely? I'm not a fan of the brand generally but the branding on this one is subtle and the colour is so unusual!

I actually thought Michael Kors bags WERE the same as cheap Penneys bags as I see so many people with them.

Wouldnt be my cup of tea at all. Not that I know anything about designer bags.

I do like the omybag bags linked here.

I have a Michael Kors bag and I love it, it's one of the jet set bags so it stand's up which is so handy to keep your stuff from moving about, it can hold a4 pockets and a bottle of wine! I use it every day and abuse it quite a bit and 18 months later it's still looking really well.
I got mine 20% off, so €200 for a sturdy leather bag is good value IMO, I know they're common enough now but I still love mine. I may try replace it soon as my everyday bag because I want to keep it looking well for the future.

People can be quite snobby when it comes to bags, I guess everyone's different

I spotted two of these bags on Lily Pebbles latest youtube vid (she was sent them for free) - I think they are fab:

    https://www.strathberry.com/collections/the-strathberry-designer-collection

Think you would have to see it in real life to see how the handle works and if you'd like it - it seemed to work better on the larger version in her video.

Have you looked on etsy at all? They have lots of really worthwhile stuff, leather, handmade and much cheaper than the branded stuff. Personally i would much rather that than a MK bag like everyone else, though they certainly do have their place!

Thank you for taking the time to reply! I hadn't considered etsy at all but I'll keep it in mind for future purchases. I'll agree sometimes it's nice to have something completely different & unique.

However I was in the mood for a brand name bag as I do love my brands! So I've gone for a See by Chloe bucket bag. I purchased online so fingers crossed it'll look good once it arrives. Some great ideas being shared here though, lots to choose from!

Not a "big brand" but I have a few bags from Holdens in Dingle. They are really well made and wear well too.
