It still looks exactly like this(and that was in 2011) : https://goo.gl/maps/R9mh2DVATEm

Well it's surely now IF ever. With the economy improving and an uptake in private health spending if it ever is completed there must be some movement on it soon. The site is a real eyesore on the main approach to the town from Dublin/most of the country.

Why the new primary care center was not located there is beyond me!! Perfect location for it.

Primary Care centres are nowhere near that scale.

Might be a bit far out of town. A town centre location might be more suitable for people to walk to.

true, but with the proposal for that particular building, they were only using a section of the building frame for it. Would be a better spot that where its actually going in town. The one in athlone is a large building as well when you look at it.

Agreed and that's the reason the site wasn't picked, still, a lot of people drive to it at the same time.

Would that structure be able to be used now anyway?? It's been like that a good 7 years

Well the pub talk says no it couldn't be used and would need to be taken down or modified. But who knows. It is an eyesore on the main entrance in to town from Dublin, Galway and the whole top half of the country. Needs something doing with it one way or the other. The council need to put pressure on the developers. Especially now that the country is picking up a bit.

The steel can still good and the structure can still be used, the depth and size of the steel can easily take atmospheric corrosion without to much affect.
As for putting pressure on the developer, are you having a laugh ?
Flanagans are pretty much out of business and that's assuming they still own it but my guess is that NAMA are in possession of it and are waiting for the market price of the site to somewhat recover before selling it. That by the way is still somewhat off
    A) for a town like Tullamore
    B) for the location of the site.

You safely expect nothing to be done on that site for at least another 2-3 years

No not having a laugh. Flanagan developments still exist and haven't liquidated and disappeared with people's money and resurrected like certain other local developers. If it's in nama which I don't think it is then the councilors put pressure on them. If it's not them put pressure on Flanagans. At least let someone outline a likely plan for the site. Even if that's removing the structure and returning it to a greenfield site.
