Any advice on how to obtain PSRA licence I.e courses

My background over 10 years with same company managing property, long story short it's not enough to obtain part C of PSRA licence.

Any advice on part time courses preferably long distance or next to that the quickest way to obtain minimum qualifications as I need to be able to work and balance family life.

I know IPAV offer a 2 year part time course.

I did a course with the IAVI years ago but that body is not recognised with the regulator. So I guess that was a pure waste of time. Anyone else that was in same situation what did you do?? Is there any other route. I really don't want to have to travel to dublin every weekend for the next 2 years.

    Any help would be great.

    Hi OP,

Did you get the info you were looking for.

I'm considering doing the IPAV 2 year cert in real estate in Tallaght IT this year. It's the quickest for me and only option I can see - I'm not working in the industry and this course allows me once I undertake the minimum work experience during the year. Like you I have a family and work life to balance but looking to do this to change career.

    Hi,

Just wondering if you found a course.
I applied for the 2 year course in 2016 in Tallaght. I wasn't successful in getting on the course. I'm hoping to reapply again this year.
I'm looking for a total career change so I thought I was turned down due to been 37 and having no experience in that area.
Would love to hear how you both got on

Hi Carolp, I too was turned down by the IPAV for that course as it was oversubscribed. I'm 40 and not in that industry. Only option is to get experience with one of the large estate agents. I've given up on that.

awh no don't give up on your dream. I'm not giving up, I'm going to reapply again this year and hopefully get accepted. DIT on Bolton street run the course too, it's 2 nights a week for 2 years or you can do it over a year. Its actually cheaper than doing it through IPAV, maybe not as good though, I don't know. I'm going to apply for both. I agree with you about getting work experience. I've emailed every estate agents within a 30 mile radious and none of them have gotten back to me.

Any ideas on getting a PSRA licence I have 13 years property finance and portfolio management experience of extensive property portfolios but when I ring PSRA office can not get anyone to talk sense. Cant apply for a job unless you have a licence as EA's do not want to take you on with risk you wont get licence and PSRA wont consider your application unless you fill in employer details so therefore you have to be in employment. Where is the sense in this. This makes no common sense whatsoever. Any contacts of someone with common sense to discuss???

Did anyone get accepted onto the IPAV course.

Queenswayburke - you need to do some research on your chosen career and the paths forward to a licence, only then will all the information the PSRA office gave you make sense!

The SCSI part time course will qualify you for the licence.

Apologies for raising an old thread.

Can anyone suggest the shortest part time course to do to be eligible for a psra license?

I’m considering the MSc Real Estate2 year online course with UCEM in the UK. The cost is approx €10000. Any other suggestions as I went to fit it around non property related full time job in Dublin but want to do it in no more than 2 years?

    Many thanks.

The SCSI course is run over 5 semesters - 2.5 years! Significantly cheaper than €10k!

    Thanks for that.

The issue with that course is it’s difficult to get onto when not working property. I tried 2 years ago and didn’t get a place. A course that’s online or involves minimal class attendance would be ideal with work and kids.

I see that the UCEM course is RICS approved - does it definitely qualify you for an Irish property licence? I think that you would also need to have a degree to qualify for an MSc programme?

Yeah it was approved by the PSRA is June and is listed on their approved courses. However being a UK course you get no tax benefit like Irish courses. Yes I have a degree like most people. I’m not really interested in doing such a masters if a higher diploma will do. I was hoping to wrap it around my non property related job and family of 2 small kids.
