For the last few years I've being doing less than 10000miles a year. In turn on my old car I serviced it once or twice a year at 5 to 6000 miles. Now with work I'm commuting 120 miles a nite 5 to 6 nites a week bit of driving during the day and I'm clocking up that 5 or 6 thousand miles in 6 to 7 weeks.
Could I extent my service intervals out longer and also to what mileage could it be extended. There is 185000miles on it now and it got a reconditioned turbo at 170000 miles and a new camshaft and rockers this week. Car is an 03 Passat 130bhp 6 speed.

Use a good quality oil (Castrol,Total,Elf, Fuchs, LiqiMoly, ) and a good quality filter such as Mann ( which the genuine VW filter is prob made by anyway ) and your grand for 10 or 12 thousand miles easily.
I've seen some cheap nasty filters breaking up when coming out at a service. The quality is not in the paper.
    Hope this helps.

What oil grade are you using? If it 0/30 or 5/30 you can push out the services a little longer. If the car is on 10/40 then a short cycle is recommended.

Switching to a 0/30 or 5/30 after being on a 10/40 for its lifetime is not recommended. The seals around the engine could start to leak with the less viscous oil...

Def use Mann filters only as previously suggested...

It's running on 5w 30 now. No idea what was in it before hand as it came with no service history. Forget the name of the filter it came in a green and yellow box thou. I'll stretch it to ten and keep servicing then. I'd imagion the fuel and air filter is good for 20000 would it. Btw it's all mostly motorway driving.
