Water pump (?) in apartment hot press - v noisy!

For anyone who lives in an apartment, I hope you know what I mean - in the hot press there's a pump that makes a racket whenever someone flushes the loo/uses the shower, sink etc.,/switches on the dishwasher/washing machine. I was wondering is there such a thing as a quieter version of this, or an alternative? It's enough to wake someone up in the morning..

I know what you mean. If you look at your pump you should be able to find the name of the manufacturer. People may be able to offer you better advice if they knew that.

I've swapped out 2 pumps in places I've lived to a much quieter model and it was a huge relief.

Thanks very much for the reply. I can't see any make/model on it, but it's at an awkward angle. I swear it's like an airplane taking off! Can I ask how you went about getting a quieter model - is it a job for a plumber? (clueless here, clearly!) :)

Place camera next to pump, take random picture. Move camera angle. Rinse and repeat. See what you can discover. If you can post a pic people might be able to identify it.

If it doesn't have flexible hoses fitted, fitting them would help, mounting it on high density foam also helps.

I swapped out two Stuart Turner pumps for Bristan pumps and the difference was unreal. One in an apartment and the other in a house.
Ordered them online and got the first one professionally fitted and did the second one myself after learning the first time.

You really do need to find out the type of pump you have first.

There are things you could try first though, your pump may just need a bit of noise insulation around the pipes or may just need to be moved slightly?

If you're not sure what you're doing Id employ a professional, they are not something you want to mess around with.
