    On the polling paper :
1 . Tick the party you want in government
2 . Tick the local candidate you want representing your area.

Or a one person one vote election
RTE kept pushing the idea of keeping your vote in play, and to give each candidate a number in order of preference. Just to keep the story and speculation ...... ..

No point in them running another election unless they were to bring in some new element for the craic like letting those over aged 16 to 18 also vote.

Candidates who fail to get elected could be fired into space from a giant cannon

    Into the sun I presume?

They could try one person one vote. Go in tick the candidate you want representing your interests.

Easy peasy - one count. Simple results.

Wasn't there a bit of a kerfuffle about shenanigans like this up in Sligo earlier this year by Fine Gael?
In opening his case before the High Court this afternoon, his barrister claimed votes were cast by people who were not entitled to and that votes were recorded for people who were not there on the night.

That's going to leave me badly shortchanged I had at least four votes in the last election. I'd be dead set against it.

I dunno, that would mean the counts would be extremely boring and that's the only reason elections are interesting really.

I'd go the other way, introduce a bonus vote system of some kind. Or let you trade your +1 vote for a -2 vote to be used against any candidate. Or have anything after the sixth count be decided by a dance-off.

I haven't really worked out the details of my plan yet...
