Hi, I have a 2005 1.2lt VW Polo with the oil light coming on and beeping persistently. Obviously the oil is topped up and I just replaced the oil level sensor(€80) and it's still happing.:(

Anyone know what's going on here?

Thats a oil pressure warning not an oil level warning.

Best thing you can do is get the engine oil pressure tested to see have you a mechanical issue with the engine or an oil pressure sensor/wiring issue

Ok thanks Irish Bloke I'll look into that.

If the oil pressure is not right what could be causing that?

Hopefully it will just be a faulty sensor.
If your oil pressure is actually bad you could have a serious engine problem.

I suggest getting it tested straight away and limit driving the car as much as possible. It's not an expensive test to carry out.

If you hear any strange engine noises, particularly a knocking noise, it's probably too late...

Low pressure could be a cracked sump etc (no oil)
High pressure could be a blockage somewhere in the flow loop.

As you have oil and are checking the level it will most likely be high pressure if it's a mechanical

If the oil pressure and sensors are ok, then maybe the sump will need to be dropped to see what sort of condition it's in and to check the oil pick up.
