I'm filling out a Carer's Benefit form and one of the questions is "Number of hours you will be providing care while on Career's Leave".

No idea what to put. Do I deduct eight hours for sleep and put down 16 or do I put 24 hours as I'll be on call all day  I know I can work for 15 hours per week if I wish so do I take that into account as well?

If you are responsible for getting up and providing care at night, you are providing care during those hours. If you have an actual job (not just vague plans to work maybe), then put the average number of hours you work. If you take a few hours or a day off every week and are responsible for arranging substitute care in your absence, then you're still responsible for providing care. You'll want to double-check if you take off the same day each week, not just take some time to go shopping and get your hair done.

Thanks. I'll be leaving work to look after my mother so am not planning on working part-time.

SW consider full time care to be at least 35 hours spread out over 7 days
