Ok this might be a bit all over the place but looking for idea's.

I hope will be in position to buy new house today. The house is circa 3,000 sq ft and is a bungalow. It was originally a 3 bedroom house and there has been a couple of extensions. As a result of this it is a big house but I know myself already it will be hard to heat. I have left a little bit of money in back pocket so when I get house I can do a few jobs.

The house already looks like there was some money spent on heating. There is brand new oil boiler installed which is in a room of house, so no heat loss with boiler in shed. There is a huge kitchen with a large stove and this is connected to the heating system as well. TGV on all rads. All new windows installed.

There is a mixture of older radiators, the single leaf long ones and then newer ones in the extensions so will probably swap out the older ones.

There is minimal attic insulation so that will be number 1 job. Wont have budget for insulated slabs or external insulation at the moment.

The hot press and immersion tank are useless so going to make this bigger and put in insulated tank. My question is while I am doing this would it be worth my while putting in solar panels? we have 2 small kids and hopefully more and we use ALOT of water. There routine includes a bank every day and just use loads of water keeping the 2 pups clean. So I was thinking while I was doing the immersion should I put in panels? or am I mad? any idea of cost?

If outside budget is there a specific tank I should put in so I can put in panels at a later stage easier?

Is there anything else really I should look at? garden is huge so could do geothermal but does that work with standard radiators? would air to water work?

    Thanks

Congrats and good luck with the purchase !

If I will be you, i will do the best airtight and insulation money possible can afford.
Then, you will be "forced" to install MHRV.

With the money saved from above ,i will get solar panels and/or geo.

For DHW panels, you will be limited by the physical limitations of the storage area and/or doors.
There is an unwritten rule of 10 tubes per 100L in cylinder dual / twin coil. Better to get a three coils cylinder for boiler, solar and geo ?
Cost of a 40 tubes / 300L system is around €3,000ish. Installation cost varies and you will get a grant of around €1,200 back from SEAI.

    Have fun !

I was thinking it might be worth getting someone in to look at it and give me some idea

I seen loads of people in UK but is there a similar company in Ireland?

Got a price for solar panels. Just wondering is Evacuated tubes better than panels?

Also what is typical? is 200ltr too small? there is 2 adults and 2 kids. Most of water is just for kids bath etc and general washing dishes etc. Might have another 1 or 2 little ones...

Ok, so have moved a bit further and now want to actually book the installation....

Is there any recommendations for companies? I have price from Glenergy and LVP renewables. I have seen Activ8 around in loads of places.

Where do I start? I heard Kingspan are the best, is this correct?
