Do you need to format battery in a smartphone

    Hi guys

    I remember that years and years ago, when you purchased a new phone you had to format batter - deplete it completely and then charge it for 12 hours, repeat 3 times.

    Is that still a thing?

    Just follow what is written in quick start guide.

    These days you are only asked to charge it fully before use ( in most cases)

    Batteries today are different than the ones used years ago...

    Nope, modern cells are Li-Ion which dont suffer from the "memory effect" that plagued Ni-Mh batteries from back in the day.

    The only thing cycling the battery might do is give your phone a better reading of how charged the cell is(more accurate % at the top of the screen) as it builds stats over time.
