    Hi,
I've found the various information online to be contradictory so I was hoping someone with experience of using one could help me out.im planning on heading to the states for a few weeks this summer and was planning on get one of the an post currency cards as I don't like carrying large amounts of cash in general.i was wondering whether withdrawing cash from an atm using one of these cards incurs a fee each time, some sources say it does and others don't?also what is the situation in this way with regards paying at a point of sale using the card?any information would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks,
    Kevin

I used one in Australia quite recently. As long as you're paying in the currency of the card, there is no charge at all for point of sale transactions. To withdraw money at the ATM for AUD was going to cost $3.50 per withdrawl, so should really only be used for large amounts. I think it was $2.50 for USD withdrawls.

The woman who served me in the Post Office seemed quite knowledgeable about it. She knew all the info off the top of her head. But I would definitely say go for it! Used it constantly and the balance updates on the online account in real time - no delays. One of the better decisions I have made in a long time.

Thanks, thats roughly what I had gathered from the info online but the fact that point of sale transactions are free yet withdrawls aren't didn't seem to make much sense to me.ah well, still seems like the best option overall, thanks very much
