Getting a second date

So I'm back in the dating field once again after a couple of years I'm 34 and widowed with a toddler. I've been asked on a good few dates and I've went on them all. They've all went grand but I never seem to interested enough in anyone to go on a second date. The last date I went on was a nice guy and asked me to go again. But I just don't feel like going. Am I being too picky. Should I be giving people more of a chance or should I hang out for someone I really like?

Like, why are you even asking yourself this question?

I'm so sorry for your loss OP, particularly at such a young age. In answer to your questions, I think the starting point may well be in that loss. How sure are you that you're ready for the first date? Never mind the second date, you'll know the answer to that yourself when the first date hits the mark, but two years is not especially long and depending on how those two years went, they may be nothing at all in terms of being ready to move forward.

I've seen your other threads and I can't help but wonder are you getting a little desperate? Are you putting yourself under too much pressure to meet someone else and settle down and have more children? It's possible - as Hemerodrome has suggested - that you're not mentally ready to start dating properly again but your desire to settle down again is pushing you out there again? What you need to be careful of is that you don't make poor choices based on desperation and/or willingness to settle.
