What's land making per acre for a cut of silage? Has fertiliser got and will be ready to cut in 5 weeks

id say it will be got handy enough again this year. Even though growth is slow around here there is still loads of pits full of silage. I have a pit and a 1/5 left.

Fodder is tightening up, I'd say there is a fair few lads running tight, I'm eating into a lot of what I thought would be surplus.

Can't help you with a price. But just trying to work it, leased land 270 to 400 for a year.
A first cut is a major part of a production year, lets say 50%.
Add to this that its fertilised. Suggest a price yourself OP based on that.
    We'll then argue the toss.

270 to 400 has to be with maps, without maps you could knock a third off so if you were getting 100€ unfertilised you would be in and around the figure.

    Fair comment jj.
Locally here two cuts €170, maybe a bit low.

All depends where you are and what local demand is like. Could be anywhere between 150-250.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Demand would be fairly high where I am. 200 an acre wouldn't be too far off the mark so would it?

Well it has got fert. Subract that from the price.
Consider then the cost of ensiling. This could be dear feed but you do have control of quality to some extent compared to buying in bales.
Your other alternative is roughage and concentrates/fodder beet.

It is nice to have enough feed in the pit though. Peace of mind has a value too.

Maybe i'm being naïve but who in their right mind is giving 270 to 400 for land.
I suppose giving and paying could be different things though.:pac:

Paying 190 here in kilkenny, that's with fertiliser and slurry included, think it's 130 for second cut.

Only thing I can say is around here it's nothing but dairying, so the man we're buying off has no shortage of takers.

Need to be sure of comparing like with like.
€170/200 for two cuts is without fert + slurry.

Gave €60/ac for it the other day unfertilized for first cut only, looking for €100, not a hope

for that € 200 I would be expecting 4/5 bags of cut swarth to be thrown out in it and even at that it still seems dear. my neighbour just paid €90 for the farm next to us unfertilised and I thought it was dear.

It has got 5 bags of 18 6 12 to the acre plus very watery slurry
